Our South Coast plaice is fresh off the day boat.
A popular orange-spotted flat sea fish with a mild, sweet flavour, plaice can be grilled, fried or poached. The flesh of a plaice is soft and flaky and can be used in all manner of ways.
Bake it whole with roasted tomatoes or grill it in a lemon and parsley butter or serve with mussels and brown butter sauce. There is our favourite fish and chip supper of course, try it in a light batter; we love James Martin's chickpea and cider batter.
